The Heartbeat of the Medical Sciences Students
WHO ARE WE?
The Medical Sciences Student Council, MSSC is the standing committee of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, FMS Representative, UWI Guild of Students, UWI St. Augustine. We are recognized by the University of the West Indies, UWI as the official body of student representation for all Medical Sciences students through the UWI Guild of Students.
Through the statutes and ordinances of the UWI, the MSSC serves as the umbrella body for all student representation within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, FMS.
The office of the MSSC comprises of an organizational structure led by student exemplars which allows effective student representation at all levels.
WHAT DO WE DO?
The MSSC is a dynamic network of students that aims to maintain and improve Student Satisfaction across the board. We actively engage in lobbying for betterment in all aspects of Student Life. This includes a range of things that is not limited to: Student Academics, Student facilities, Student events and Student services.
We streamline all student matters/concerns/issues/suggestions that stem from all schools within the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Through our Representatives, these items can be addressed through school boards such as faculty board and academic board.
Within our structure there is equal input from the following school associations:
• The Dental Students Association of Trinidad and Tobago, DSATT.
• The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Nursing Students, TTANS.
• The Trinidad and Tobago Medical Students Association, TTMSA.
• The Trinidad and Tobago Organization of Pharmacy Students, TTOPS.
• The Trinidad and Tobago Optometry Students Association, TTOSA.
• The Veterinary Students Association of Trinidad and Tobago, VSATT.
• Postgraduate
The Medical Sciences Student Council hence potentiates and facilitates all functionings of each School association within the FMS to ensure optimum student experience and satisfaction.
